Ronald Reagan
The Most Important President in the Past Century
Back to the Influential & Great
Thinkers Page
Back to the Politician's Page
This is an important page. From 1900 to the year 2000 no president ever succeeded in promoting Freedom more than this president. He had Honor. He was handsome. He literally built El Rancho del Cielo with his own hands. He found his own life humorous. Even after being shot and taken to the operating room he joked, "I hope you all are Republicans!" It became one of his better known one-liners. Among the very first acts of his first presidency was to deregulate the price of oil. The Democrat Speaker of the House, Tip O'neal, predicted that the economy would be shattered by oil gauging. Next, Reagan dropped the top tax rate from 70% to about 27%. The Democrats felt faint, how would their precious pork-barrel give aways get funded? Instead the economy zoomed! President Reagan reversed Democrat Jimmy Carter's "American's are to blame for the economy's malaise" and took Carter's 21% inflation rate and dropped it to 3%. Carter's 12% unemployment rate melted to about 5% and the price of oil fell dramatically because of Free Market forces, not government control. It created an economic expansion of 20 million jobs that lasted for nearly 17 years until the extreme tax hikes of Democrat Criminal Clinton bled the economy to death. He rebuilt America's sagging military without which Clinton couldn't have bombed Aspirin factories. Reagan said, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" Not only did the wall come down, the "Evil Empire"; the Soviet Union and its satellite Iron Curtain countries disintigrated. All without a shot. Unlike Democrats who gave YOUR TAX MONEY to support Communist governments, Reagan cut them off and made them pay their own way. There is so much more history to this amazing American that I could tell you. But I hope the links below will help you become aquainted with Reagan, the greatest president of this century. George Washington was the only other president who started from such humble origins and literally created the foundations of the government as it exists today.
