Back to the Lots of Interesting Links Page

I have always loved all kinds of animals; mosquitos, flies, and other biting and stinging varmints excepted. These creatures add a special balance to our lives and homes. Studies have demonstrated that with autistic children and severely disabled people, both aged and disturbed, animals can open them to communication where therapists may be powerless. We love them and make them a cherished part of our lives. These links will bring you some new and interesting insights and information on this part of our lives.

Dog Links

The History of the Saint Bernard dogs Yes, there really was a Saint Bernard. He routed the Moors in the Pyrennes mountains in France and the dogs helped in the rescue of travelers through the bandit infested alpine passes.

Cat Links

The International Bengal Cat Society Bengal cats are a cross between the wild Asian Leopard cats and domestic cats. The breed was only started in the last 20 years and has produced the most revolutionary change in domestic felines in several millenia. Many breeders are in the process of creating lines of cats that blend the loving disposition we are used to with the pelt and wild grace and power of the endangered wild ancestors. The pelt patterns are spotted, marbled, snow-leopard to tiger like. Many have "glittered" fur where the tip of each hair is shiny gold giving the cat a sparkling quality entirely absent in standard domestic breeds. These remain very expensive at the moment. But if you are looking at it from the "Living Art" point of view it may be worth your investment.
