A whole year of experimentation has resulted in a beautiful new type of high fired artistic porcelain wares for your home! Papillon found different types of porcelain clays that have similar coefficients of shrinkage in the oxidation or reduction firings. Combined together by her own hands she controls the colors, the style of the marbling, and the intensities of the colors without any use of paint! The result is fabulous and absolutely unique! The few people who have now seen it say they have never seen anything like it. All say it is beautiful! Every piece is unique. The pieces are considered collectible art and will be signed by Papillon. The demand is expected to be very high from the first few comments on the portfolio. Enjoy the pictures that follow. The colors of the clays are right out of mines from around the world. Their natural colors blend with and compliment your home no matter what your decor. If you are interested in purchasing any by commission the minimum order will be $100.00 plus shipping costs.

These are ceramic spheres designed to have a cool and soothing heft in your hand. Some are of marbled porcelains, others decorated in various glazes and underglazes as the artist fancies. They are about 3" diameter and weigh from 12 oz. to 2 lbs. Click here to see larger images of these.

The Marbled Bowls are expected to outsell all the other products because of their beauty and usability. The colors go clear through the sides as the following photographs will demonstrate. Newer designs are now drying and ready for Papillon's work to turn them to art. Fluted, folded edge treatments are being tried along with gorgeous new designs of the "cloud" style. After two to three firings they will be ready to photograph in 2 or 3 weeks. Wedding gifts anyone?

This is an example of what we call the "cloud" style of marbling of the porcelain. The colors mingle and swirl under the artistic control of Papillon. Only a clear glaze is used on these Cone 10 fired porcelains. Click here to see a larger image of this bowl. When this bowl was first seen by an outsider she bought it instantly, wouldn't let go of it! We'll have more soon just as beautiful.
This is an example of one of the other variants on the marbling that we refer to as the "zebra" style with distinct banding of the clay porcelain colors. The large bowls so far are up to 14" and some of the newer designs will have heavily fluted edges. This also applies to any of the other bowls as demand warrants. Because Papillon is so widely regarded in the decorative arts, she will as demand warrants, make bowls available painted in fired underglazes in her unique "American Impressionist" and powerful abstract styles. This example is 13" wide and the sides are sky blue with white fluffy clouds. The center is a stylized scene of rushes in a pond at sunrise. It is a mate to the beautiful vase found on the homepage.
