You know the left-wing thought police have gone too far when a leftist, lesbian feminist turns against them.
Tammy Bruce has gotten so fed up with the growing intolerance of her fellow "progressives" that she's now fighting back with a book, "The New Thought Police."
In case you missed her brilliant appearance Tuesday night on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes," here are excerpts.
BRUCE: [W]here I've been is in the middle of the left-wing establishment and have been really shocked and dismayed at the efforts to quash individual liberty.
And as a progressive feminist, personal liberty is what I'm really committed to, and I've seen a whole host of things happen in the name of preserving liberty, which, in fact, destroys it, and it's really about the new standard here that, if you challenge or talk about any social issue, you're going to be labeled a racist, a homophobe, or a sexist, if you don't conform to the left wing's approved line or orthodoxy.

They're now establishing limits about what people can do, and I think the attacks, as an example, on Dr. Laura Schlessinger are an excellent example of specious attacks on someone to send a message to the rest of society what you had better not say.
HANNITY: Well - and I don't agree with everything Dr. Laura says. We've had her on the program before, but what bothered me in that particular case is I felt that there was a concerted effort to shut her down and silence her ...
BRUCE: Exactly. Exactly.
