As Bill Clinton's "special" envoy to Africa, Jesse Jackson supported dictatorial butchers in Liberia and Sierra Leone, "Shakedown" author Kenneth R. Timmerman revealed tonight on CNN.
In Sierra Leone, Jackson backed a "butcher" who chopped off the limbs of black children, Timmerman revealed.
Left-wing "Crossfire" co-host Bill Press, in accusing Timmerman of focusing on only one side of Jackson's sordid career, displayed remarkable hypocrisy. In an effort to portray the author as part of some sort of right-wing conspiracy, he introduced him by saying he had written for the conservative Wall Street Journal and Washington Times - and failed to mention Timmerman had also worked for liberal media outlets Newsweek, Time, CBS News and ABC News.
"You can criticize Jesse Jackson without being a tool of the right," Timmerman responded. He said his book focused on Jackson's misdeeds because the media had spent plenty of time dwelling on all the supposed good the "Reverend" had done.
He noted "theres been this gag order on the press not to report accurately on Jackson's crooked doings.
Timmerman described Jackson's corporate blackmailing and business shakedowns, which Press actually called "doing good for a lot of people. (Would he think so if Jesse pressured CNN into replacing him with someone less pale?) Timmerman finished him off by observing how one black store owner lost his job and business because Jackson had gang members boycott the shop.
Jackson, of course, refuses to come clean and face the music, but crony Ron Walters attempted to defend him on "Crossfire." He refused, however, to answer all questions posed by conservative co-host Tucker Carlson and instead launched into rote statements each time.
