Just a month ago, New York Senator Hillary Clinton was blaming the Bush tax cut for the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. But not anymore.
During a Nov. 11 interview with CNN's Jonathan Karl, the former first lady insisted, "If we hadn't passed the big tax cut last spring, that I believe undermined our fiscal responsibility and our ability to deal with this new threat of terrorism, we wouldn't be in the fix we're in today."
Since then Mrs. Clinton has apparently thought better of her intemperate remarks, especially since the last thing her financially beleaguered state needs is to insult the man who controls the purse strings.
In an interview published in Sunday's New York Post, Clinton saw things differently.
"I support (Pres. Bush's) leadership," she proclaimed. "I believe his strong hand and words have helped to unify the country and give us the resolve to go forward in this war against terrorism."
