Feeling His Pain
Back to the Bill Clinton's Role in This Attack Page
Tuesday, October 16, 2001
BY MERYL GORDON
On Bill Clinton's desk at his Harlem office, there are nearly 100 missing flyers, sorrowful mementos of his handshaking visits to ground zero and to the family-crisis center. He can't bring himself to file them away, an aide says, so they sit there, a reminder of the horrendous loss of life -- and of his inability to either prevent it or do much to heal the wounds.
The World Trade Center attacks have catapulted the former president -- who was just starting to mellow out and revel in his post-Oval Office life as a New Yorker, senatorial spouse, and money-making private citizen -- into the unfamiliar and frustrating role of action figure in search of action.
"Clinton misses the work, sitting and making the hard decisions, having these smart people around him," says Joe Lockhart, the former White House spokesman. "It's a new experience for him, not being in the middle of it."
Interviews with nearly a dozen Clinton confidants reveal a man struggling to find a way to be useful and worrying that his peace-and-prosperity presidency will be recast as a footnote to the Bush-family dynasty. Right after the attacks, Clinton admitted to a friend that he wished, for the first time, to be back in the White House. And he couldn't resist bitterly telling an ally that if the FBI had spent as much time chasing terrorists as it had investigating his behavior, perhaps things would have played out differently.
Yet if he has any I-could-handle-this-crisis-better thoughts, he's keeping them to himself; in speeches and in numerous conversations with friends, Clinton has made a point of supporting Bush. "He knows his role is trying to provide comfort in New York City, and to add his voice in support of President Bush," says John Podesta, Clinton's former chief of staff. The feeling may not be mutual. Condoleezza Rice briefed Clinton early in the crisis, but a former aide says the exchange was "not rich in detail."
At least he can still get back-channel information. As Sidney Blumenthal, Clinton's White House spinmeister, puts it, "He and Tony Blair are good friends. And he talks to world leaders who seek him out."
While there have been rumors that Clinton and Giuliani might co-chair a commission to rebuild downtown, his aides say he seems more likely to use his bully pulpit and play national hand-holder. Nevertheless, being on the sidelines has become perhaps the toughest challenge of his career.

Of course things would have played out differently. With any justice, he would be awaiting the ultimate punishment for treason several times over.
Whine, whine, whine. Me, me, me. The most disgusting chunk of white trash ever to take the White House hostage moans and groans again endlessly. Thank God that we have a real man and a real American as President.

I think it was Peggy Noonan who pointed out that his administration began with a lie and ended with a lie.
What she didn't explicitly mention is that he lied continuously in between.

These people are so vile there aren't words.

Considering Clinton's behavior on GWB's inauguration day (prolonged goodbyes, reviewing the troops, etc.), I'd say the Clinton wanted to be back in the WH on GW's first day as president.

This man just does not have it in him to accept any responsibility for any of the scandals the he, his wife and members of his administration caused, nor the lies that they spread. I doubt very much that he is feeling any pain.

"And he couldn't resist bitterly telling an ally that if the FBI had spent as much time chasing terrorists as it had investigating his behavior, perhaps things would have played out differently."
It is PRECISELY this kind of behavior, this refusal to take responsibility for his own actions, that has rotted our culture.
Not only have our children become accustomed to dodging accountability, so have many adults.
When you go to work tomorrow, watch to see how long it takes for someone around you to say, "It was my fault. I'm sorry. It won't happen again." You could wait all day!

The last sentence in the article is the most apt:
--------
Nevertheless, being on the sidelines has become perhaps the toughest challenge of his career.
--------
That is all too correct, since Ronald Reagan and Alan Greenspan between them kept him from facing any serious challenges while in office. This is a president who found Haiti and Somalia overwhelming. It is probably fair to say that his current 'job' of making PR gestures is the toughest challenge that this fifty-something adolescent has ever faced.

Clinton misses the work, sitting and making the hard decisions, having these smart people around him,
Let us count the lies in that one phrase.
Clinton hated making any decision he could avoid.
He surrounded himself with a cabinet of sleezy pols and undistinguished sycophants.
As for missing the work and taking action, like Maynard C. Krebs in the old 50's sitcom, Clinton is allergic to real work. He still believes making a speech about a problem that presses the right PC buttons in the press is the same as actually solving the problem itself.

Bill Clinton said, "NO,leave it be, Sandy Berger agreed with BJ. THE FBI WAS DOING THEIR JOB!!!!! Clinton was not! Every time I log on here I see a new story with Bubba crying and placing the BLAME everywhere else. This country has to stop glorifying him. You'd think there was a run on knee pads instead of gas masks.
Reply 47 - Posted by: buddyluv, 10/15/2001 10:37:29 PM
Bill is upset that he didn't get that really nice bedroom furniture out of the Lincoln bedroom, for his house, and wants to go back to finish his job of cleaning out the white house. Maybe Bill just remembered he left behind one of his candid camera video tapes, the one featuring him in a sexual escapade and wants to retieve it for his presidential library, plus he's missing a pair of soiled shorts that he doesn't want anyone analysing.
Don't u just feel sorry for poor Ol Bill. If he had kept his mr microphone in his pants, been honest in the beginning, and had done his job, he wouldn't have to go back and clean up his mess. He wasn't planning on anything this dire arising out of his failure to carry out the 'peoples' business. Now he is guilt ridden and it's getting the best of him. It's pretty obvious to me, based on all that I've heard.
His only legacy is going to be his posh library which will be build around his 'trailtrash romances' (also to be the name of high priced book series, eventually to be made into a docudrama and then into a movie serial).

Sharing an email from a friend:
After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six and injured 1,000, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and injured 5,000, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured 3 U.S.sailors, Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
Maybe if Clinton had kept his promise, an estimated 7,000 people would be alive today.
An interesting question:
This question was raised on a Philly radio call-in show. Without casting stones, it is a legitimate question. There are two men, both
extremely wealthy. One develops relatively cheap software and gives hundreds of millions of dollars to charity. The other sponsors
terrorism.
That being the case, why is it that the US government has spent more money chasing down Bill Gates over the past ten years than Osama bin Laden?
It is a strange turn of events. Hillary gets $8 Million for her forthcoming memoir. Bill gets about $12 Million for his memoir.
This from two people who have spent the past 8 years being unable to recall anything about past events!

The only reason this traitor wanted to be back in the White House is because of the added security, i.e. underground bunker, and airforce one. That way he wouldn't have to hire private jets to move him around. They are very expensive -- you know.
I was flipping my TV channels a few days ago and THERE he was sitting in a chair and expressing his views on something or another.

Back in the 50's when it was politically correct to view Communism as the menace it was and is, everyone knew that the way they planned to conquer the USA was through internal chaos.
We know the Clintons are both Communists.
The internal chaos is now starting.
They've both been playing their parts just fine to lay the groundwork for what is going on right now.
Why was he rushing around to every continent, to almost every country immediately after the inauguration?
(And we know he traveled everywhere more than any other president while he was in office.)
Was it to touch base with all of the terror leaders to make sure everything was proceeding as planned?
Was it to deliver money to them - in bags which would not be looked into at any custom area?
Were they responsible for the abduction and disappearance of Chandra Levy so that FBI agents all over the country were all tied up looking for her,and Chandra was the only news the media, the investigative reporters were looking at all summer -
meanwhile no one was checking borders, no one was available to hear if anything suspicious was going on in Florida or in flight schools - no one was thinking about biological warfare.
What these terrorists are doing is not the variety of terrorism we have seen in Israel -car bombs in the street.
It's creative, it's simplistic.
using only a box cutter to bring down the towers - and then, along with the horrendous death toll, the effects being felt in the airline industry, the hotels, tourism, restaurants etc.etc.
sending out a few envelopes with anthrax but most with only white powder, and having the whole world in a state of anxiety - having every post office in the country in a state of alert, having everyone in the country being wary of opening any mail they receive,
and having our medical people having to test 700 people because one envelope was found, which turns out to be nothing.
In other words, with one act,the maximum number of people inconvenienced, anxious, scared to death.
This all sounds to me like a lot of input from the devious mind of Clinton.

Clinton joke:
Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr., and Bubba all take a trip to the Land of Oz. When they reach the Emerald City, they present themselves before the great King of Oz. The King asks, in a mighty voice,
OH, JIMMY CARTER, WHAT IS IT YOU DESIRE FROM THE GREAT KING OF OZ?
And Carter says "Well, as you know, I had some trouble standing up to the Soviets and the Ayatollah. I could really use some courage."
And poof! Jimmy gets his courage.
Then the King asks: RONALD REAGAN, WHAT IS IT YOU WANT FROM THE GREAT AND MAGNIFICENT KING OF OZ?
And Reagan says, "Well, during my administration people always thought I was kind of stupid. I could really use a brain."
And poof! Reagan gets his brain.
Next comes George Bush Sr. And King Oz asks him: OH, GEORGE BUSH THE ELDER, WHAT DO YOU DESIRE FROM THE GREAT KING OF OZ?
And George Bush Sr. says "Well, during my administration I had a reputation for caving in to opponents. I let Saddam Hussein stay in office and I let the Democrats walk all over me with runaway spending proposals. I never even lifted a finger. I could really use some guts."
And poof! Bush Sr. gets some guts.
Finally, King Oz asks Clinton: OH, WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON, WHAT IS IT THAT YOU DESIRE FROM THE MAGNIFICENT AND MARVELOUS KING OF OZ?
But to this query, there is no answer. Bill Clinton just stands around listlessly, hardly even paying attention. The King of Oz pipes up again: BILL, JUST WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM THE GREAT KING OF OZ?
Bill finally looks up and responds: Do you know where Dorothy is?

Clinton is worse than dirt, dirt I can deal with.Sweep it away, wash it, gone, HIM, he will never be gone.
There were 392 terrorist attacks in the world in 2000. What besides campaigning for funds was he doing??
His tiny, tiny little mouth with the great big lies, makes me want to puke, and if Bob Dole thinks he is anything, raising funds with this creep, he is just Clinton's dupe and fall guy when they do not come in.
Bob Dole better get away from him before he hurts his wife's opportunity.
Clinton, live a long life, we want you to remember ALL the things you did not do.We want you to realize ALL the misery you inflicted on this country.
We wonder, still sleeping in after long nights,

You know the type, you see his head peaking out from the corner of the photograph. And you say, Oh gee, there's crazy Bill, again. If the boy Clinton had not grandstanded in speaking to and signing into law Amendments 413 and 415 of the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 his sexual history would not have been discoverable in the Paula Jones suit and Clintons perjury, suborning perjury, destroying evidence, etc would not have been an issue.

B.J. Clintoon managed to escape removal from office, indictment and prison, all of which he richly deserved. But in a way that's okay - his punishment is to have been succeeded by a REAL President who towers over him in ability, integrity, decisiveness and love of country. Every day in the performance of his duties Mr. Bush shows the nation and the world the difference between genuine leadership and white trash. Clintoon senses this and sees the verdict of history closing in on him. Ultimately this verdict will cause him more angst than any a panel of jurors could have rendered.

The FBI should not have been babysitting him in the first place. Most adults can control their sexual urges except for porno clinton. It just proves that porno clinton was a very sick, perverted man who should not have been elected as president. So, today's missive from Sideshow Bill is that it's Louie Freeh & the FBI's fault, because they spent too much time investigating him. Poor Bill. Everyone is a screwup but him.
I may be vague on this, but wasn't Louie Freeh in Africa investigating the embassy bombings when Clinton bombed the empty tents in Afghanistan and the Sudanese aspirin factory, and wasn't Freeh furious because he wasn't told in advance about it? Something like that. I just thought of that when I read this article, but I don't know if it's relevant.
So convenient that he tosses blame to the agency and agency head he was most estranged from. Distancing himself from blame, little by little, where he can. It's pathetic but not surprising.

Where is the accounting to the GAO for these trips.
Did the donor deduct the jet's use off their corporate income taxes as business expenses???
Is the US Government (us) paying for private jets?

We were foolish for chasing him down in the first place, huh. If y'a all hadn't been wasting $40 Million dollars on Starr Wars, we might have been able to catch these terrorsts before hand, instead look what happened. I feel his pain allright. Not.

While waiting on my coffee this a.m., I picked up some celeb rag-mag and inside were pics of Bubba with Leonardo DiCaprio and Bubba screwing around with a sax. The article said it was at some sort of environmental whing-ding where they were honoring him. It said they told Bubba that in light of 9-11 they could consider re-scheduling it but no.....Bubba said even though he didn't feel right getting awards at this time, they could go ahead and have it and he'd be there and accept it. Translation: OF COURSE IT MUST BE HELD. THIS IS ABOUT ME AND WE AREN'T GOING TO LET A LITTLE THING LIKE THE LOSS OF 6,000 INNOCENT PEOPLE (WHO WERE SLAUGHTERED WITH MY HELP,) AND A WAR STOP AN AWARD TO ME!

The spawn's Secret Service protection WAS supposed to end, but that POS traitor bill signed an executive order in the last hours of his reign of terror, to extend that protection as long as the spawn was in school.
That son of a b!tch and his skank family is STILL stealing from the American taxpayer and WILL as long as he can get away with it.
I, for one, wishes Dubya would reverse that order. The EXPRESIDUNCE and his wife are now multi-millionaires,both from their book deals and also from all the millions they've managed to steal from us. THEY should be paying for private protection if they want it.

All of Clintons' resorses were spent investigating Microsoft--the tobacco companies and the gun industry --all else was left undone

Clinton is so choice. Bemoaning the fact that the FBI spent more time investigating him. Ya, right. M'thinks his AG kept any investigations away from him. Ditto for the FBI. Congress was unable to get anything out of the AG and DOJ. He is sooooo disgusting. Gosh, I've got to get of the subject of Clintoon. He's irrelevant.

His Legacy: The president who masterbated between the Bushes.
When I read this article I thought it was a parody, but like everything connected to the Clintons it's more of the same: me me me me me me me me me me me I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I...................
"Clinton misses the work, sitting and making the hard decisions, having these smart people around him," says Joe Lockhart"
What smart people? Reno, PIAPS, Berger, Albright? I thought he was the genius running the show.
"add his voice in support of President Bush," says John Podesta, Clinton's former chief of staff. The feeling may not be mutual. Condoleezza Rice briefed Clinton early in the crisis, but a former aide says the exchange was "not rich in detail."
President Bush to Dr. Rice: "Condi call the grifter-in-briefs and tell him to turn on CNN"
"his aides say he seems more likely to use his bully pulpit and play national hand-holder"
And we all know where those hand usually are - up a skirt or on "little Bill"

Clinton missed his golden opportunity to target Bin Laden as a dangerous terrorist. He was to busy going after his terrorists of choice ... conservatives, the boy scouts, the brownies, Elian's foster care family, his trail trash honeys, Ken Star, the religious right, an asprin factory, and some tents, possibly Vince Foster, oh yea, and the american people.

I'm tired of hearing about Bill Clinton and his pity party. He blames everyone but himself for the investigation and all the scandals that hung a black cloud over his presidency. I'm sure one of his "college" courses must have been "Whining-101".

Who gives a rat's rear end what this low-life sociopath thinks or feels. Instead of being interviewed in Harlem, he should be in a federal prison writing his memoirs.

What a small, pathetic man.

Hmmmm...that reminds me of some lyrics...
"You sad pathetic man/
see where you've brought us to/
our ideals die around us/
all because of you/
And now the saddest cut of all/
someone has to turn you in/
like a common criminal/
like a wounded animal/
A jaded mandarin/
a jaded mandarin/
a jaded, faded mandarin.

Condi Rice's briefing was not rich in detail:
Translation: ah din' git nuthin' ta sell!
enny-thing was too much for ah traitor who couldn't qualify for ah secret clearance!
