Police were summoned to the Metroliner platform at New York's Penn Station last December after Sexgate cover girl Monica Lewinsky assaulted conservative Washington, D.C., attorney Victoria Toensing.
The attack took place after Lewinsky spotted Toensing, who, along with her husband Joseph DiGenova, was a regular television commentator during the Clinton impeachment saga.
Metroliner Porter Greg Doelger confirmed Tuesday that the former Clinton girlfriend slugged Toensing with her shopping bag after the two exchanged angry words.
"I was putting [Toensing's] luggage on the train when all of a sudden she gets hit, and I didn't see the hit, but I heard it," he told the Washington Post's Lloyd Grove.
Doegler said that when he looked up he saw "a dark-haired young female wearing a trench coat speeding by."
After the hit, Toensing was visibly upset, the porter said. She exclaimed, "I can't believe it. That was Monica Lewinsky and she just knocked me with her shopping bag."
At that point Doegler suggested he call the cops.
Doelger said the Post police were summoned twice from the emergency phone on the platform at Track 14. But before they could find the hot-tempered former Clinton playgirl, the train pulled away.
Previously the Post had reported on the Lewinsky-Toensing confrontation, but noted only that the one-time Clinton harem member hurled angry words at the D.C. lawyer over her suggestion on a 1998 broadcast of "Rivera Live" that Lewinsky's mom faked an emotional courthouse breakdown after testifying about her daughter's sexcapades.
According to the earlier report, Toesning shot back, "You had a lousy lawyer." But there was no hint of an assault by Lewinsky.
But yesterday, Toensing confirmed that minutes after their initial argument there was a second encounter during which the Sexgate siren retaliated physically.
"The porter is correct," she told the Post. "It appears that Monica still needs adult supervision."
