Actor COLIN FARRELL has been left red-faced after 70-year-old actress DAME EILEEN ATKINS boasted she recently rejected his desperate requests for casual sex.
COLD MOUNTAIN star, Atkins revealed the Irish lothario spent nearly three hours begging her to sleep with him, but despite his stunning looks, she turned him down because he is 42 years her junior.
She explains, "Three weeks before my 70th birthday, a simply stunning, gorgeous big film star came into my hotel room for sex without strings. I spent two and a half hours saying no, but it cheered me up fantastically.
"I said no, in the end because he said, 'The reason you won't do it is because your body isn't as good as it was when you were young, isn't it? But I don't care about that.'
"But I'm too proud of how I looked when I was younger. My body is still the same weight, but it's all distributed in a different way."
The actress initially intended to spare Farrell's blushes by keeping his identity secret, but her agent says, "I can confirm that it is Colin Farrell that made the advance."
Atkins and Farrell met during filming of movie ASK THE DUST which hits cinemas later this year (05). 04/05/2005 03:07
For Farrell, there's nothing like a dame
May 5, 2005 - 12:44PMFarrell ... cheered up Dame Eileen "fantastically".
She may be 42 years his senior, but 70-year-old actress Dame Eileen Atkins spent more than two hours resisting an attempt by Colin Farrell to seduce her.
The Gosford Park actress and co-creator of the drama Upstairs Downstairs was propositioned by the Hollywood star in her hotel room just a few months ago.
Dame Eileen told the UK's ITV chat show Loose Women: "I was doing a movie, and three weeks before my 70th birthday, a simply stunningly gorgeous big film star, aged 28 years old, came into my hotel room for sex without strings.
"Yes, I spent two-and-a-half hours saying no. It was pure bliss, and it made me sail through my 70th birthday without a care in the world."
Asked if she was tempted, the actress, who is married to second husband film producer Bill Shepherd, replied: "Of course I was! But I just kept saying, this is deeply inappropriate."
She added: "It cheered me up fantastically. I said no in the end because he said 'You won't do it because your body isn't as good as it was when you were young, isn't it? That's why you're saying no'.

Revelations that heart-throb Colin Farrell spent hours begging for sexual favours from 70-year-old actress Dame Eileen Atkins may have set many hearts a-fluttering amongst those in the autumn of their lives.
The Gosford Park actress and co-creator of the drama Upstairs Downstairs claimed she was propositioned by the 28-year-old Hollywood hunk in her hotel room just a few months ago.
But there was no be still my pounding heart from Jessie Imrie (92), of Sauchton Road, Cleethorpes.
Instead there were only tears of anguish from the plucky pensioner who believed she was the love of love-rats Farrells life.
And there was little sympathy for Dame Eileen who claimed she spent two and a half hours fending off the young movie stars advances.
She just a young floozy, said Jessie from her sheltered housing complex, and shes broken my heart. Theres nothing worse than a kiss and tell-tale. Over two hours to say no! I dont think so more like two hours of saying no dont go yet, one more time please!
Jessie and Colin have been together now for over two years but the former bus conductress believes the relationship could now be finished.
I always knew he had an eye for younger girls, she sobbed. A fine looking lad like him was always going to stray I just didnt expect a Dame to go public with all the gory details about my Colin groveling for what shes described as sex without strings.
It was never just sex between us two; I really believed it was love.
Breaking down into uncontrollable sobbing, Jessie recounted the tender moments when he would help her into a candlelit bath, or the hours he spent patiently polishing her walking frame.
I cant believe that he would do this to me, she wept, I feel old and rejected.
This is not the first time the Irish actor, star of the Miami Vice movie, has broken a veteran heart.
As a 22-year-old, shortly before his breakthrough role in Ballykissangel, he walked out on his lover of three years, lollipop lady Shona McFarlane (74), and moved in with sultry centenarian and retired headmistress Lula Labelle.
She later sold her story, with full details of Farrells peculiar penchants, to a leading UK Sunday tabloid.
