An internal memo at CNN tells employees not to cover "Shakedown," Kenneth R. Timmerman's best-selling exposé about Jesse Jackson, according to Internet reporter Matt Drudge.

"Kenneth Timmerman is a long time writer and investigator touting conservative causes," the CNN memo states, Drudge reported today. "He is recently a failed political candidate [ran for U.S. Senate in Maryland] whose own bio points out he studied creative writing at Brown."

Too late. There must be a few red faces at CNN. As we noted Wednesday night, CNN's Babel-like shout fest "Crossfire" has already tackled "Shakedown."

"Crossfire" left-winger Bill Press tried to brand Timmerman as a conservative by noting that he had written for the Wall Street Journal and Washington Times, while failing to mention Jackson's biographer had also worked for liberal media outlets Newsweek, Time, CBS News and ABC News, we pointed out.

The leftist media elite's censorship of "Shakedown" is nothing new. Fox News Channel star Bill O'Reilly has correctly pointed out that he is one of the few voices in journalism to dare to question the sleazy tactics and finances of Jackson, abetted for decades by the silence of the establishment's Guilty White Liberals.

As Timmerman noted, "there's been this gag order on the press" not to disclose Jackson's crooked dealings.

CNN's objection to the book on the grounds that a conservative wrote it is most amusingly hypocritical. Clinton News Network never seems to mind promoting books by the likes of George Stephanopoulos, James Carville, Hillary Clinton, Pierre Salinger, ad nauseam.

It seems the one with the ax to grind is not Timmerman but CNN. So much for the foundering network's feeble attempt to imitate fair and balanced Fox News.
