AQUARIA LINKS

BACK TO HUSBAND BOB'S LINKS

I have kept aquariums full of fish since childhood. I started with goldfish from a local pondand then went on to tropical fish. Now the circle has turned and I am keeping fancy goldfish from Japan. It is a beautiful and gentle hobby of ancient heritage. Goldfish in the form of carp were kept in the orient about 5,000 years ago. Ancient Chinese started with plain grass green carp and developed myriad colors and forms. I enjoy them now because I can see them across the room and they are easy to keep. I especialy love the Fantail forms for their grace. I hope that these links are as interesting to you as they are to me.

I've visited aquariums all over the world. One that I wish more prople knew of is the public aquarium under the Eiffle Tower in Paris. It was the first public aquarium in the world and was built along with the Eiffle Tower for the Paris Exposition in 1867.It was free to visit and was designed as an underground shady grotto. Another wonderful one is Jacques Costeau's in Prince Rainier's castle in Monaco. It is a very old and classically beautiful building. Don't miss it if you visit Monaco.
