Ah-nold! He and his accent have become legends in his own time, a rare accomplishment. His story is also famous. He came to America after starting his body building career as a boy in Austria full of ambition and almost penniless, his only luggage and all his worldly belongings were what he had in a gym bag, no kidding. His personal worth is widely considered to be in the billion dollar range because of intelligent investing. He also studied business and economics in a Southern California college while training for his Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia bodybuilding competitions.
I have had the pleasure of getting to know him a little bit personally. It started when his mother was a cardiac patient that I cared for at UCLA Medical Center. I had her several times as a patient and she was charming with her broken English that she spoke and gentle manner as were many of my elder patients. Her son was Arnold and she introduced us and we talked several times. I complimented him on his Hawaiian shirts that he wore to hide his huge physique. He was happy to see that I was also into weightlifting and was powerfully built as well and invited me down to workout with him near the beach in Santa Monica. I also asked him what his name meant and he replied, "It means black plowman, a farmer" and we talked about Austria and his family. I'd never heard of him and he didn't mention that he was making his first major movie, Conan the Barbarian, to me. He had a terrific sense of humor. Everybody liked him and nobody had ever heard of him.
After the movie came out we were just amazed on the Cardiac floor because he'd never mentioned it. He continued to live and hang out around the area and I saw him at the beach riding by on a bicycle and he'd always wave at me. Later he autographed two books for me that I still have.
He went on to be the most awarded bodybuilder of all time, had a string of gyms, apartment buildings and property scattered across America, and made lots of action movies and was paid up to $200 MILLION per movie for his Terminator series! INCREDIBLE!
He could see that his action-hero career was getting near its end so then he did something he'd talked about several times. He tried out restaurants starting up the "Planet Hollywood" chain with Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis then got out of it when it lost money.
He got into politics. He started off helping GW Bush's dad George Herbert Walker Bush as the National Fitness Chairman. He travelled throughout America inspiring fitness in children. He saw the problems in the children's lives and did what he could to help. His philanthropy has benefitted thousands of people but he never mentions it.
He married Maria Shriver of the President John F. Kennedy family...that Maria Shriver, niece of bloviator and drunk Teddie Kennedy. She was employed in the left-wing extremist mainstream media as a reporter. He didn't need her money or her notoriety, she was a good catch. They've been happily married with a couple children ever since. California had an incredibly corrupt governor named Gray Davis who had virtually caused the electricity shortage to bankrupt the state. It was later found out that he'd awarded huge, highly profitable contracts to energy companies that in essence defrauded Californians. When this was found out Gray Davis was impeached and thrown out of his governorship, only the second time in US history a sitting governor had been thrown out. In the ensuing runoff Arnold's fame allowed him to overcome some of his more experienced opponents and the voters of California put him in the governor's chair. Arnold had never had an elected position before in his entire life and now he was in charge of one of the largest states in the USA!
His long period of time managing his private business affairs gave him the experience he needed to set up his team of business leaders to manage California. They had to overpower the entrenched Democrap leeches who had destroyed California's once #1 educational system, bankrupted the state, promoted and financially supported homelessness, extremely high taxes, horrible anti-business laws that caused thousands of educated people and businesses to leave the state. Crime was out of control everywhere, welfare roles bulged, and enviro-nazi's were declaring private property "endangered species protected areas" and forcing with corrupt lawyers the owners to sell at a loss to "the Nature Conservancy" and other legal dodges that only made the lawyers rich.
Today is November 4th, 2004, a couple days after GW Bush was reelected President of the United States in a tight race with a slimy lawyer, John Kerry, a Senator from Massachusetts and Arnold said something that just busted me up again. The last time I had a good laugh was when he called Democratic politicians "girlie men". Today he said, "Why would I listen to losers?" Schwarzenegger asked. "Let's be honest." He called the Democrap majority in California, "losers" and blew them off! Terrific, incredible! Nobody in politics has ever had the cahones to put the Democraps in their place like that. He's become incredibly popular in California and appears to have every intention of remaking the state into a profitable place for business and a good place to live by running right over the top of the Democrap idiots. I just love what he's doing so I'm adding this page to keep track of his progress. Enjoy the articles!
