I've noticed that on some of the other garden websites that there are pictures of their products. So, in the manner of "keeping up with the Jones's" here are some of mine. Papillon and I lived here for about 8 years on a mountain to the west of Morgan Hill and south of San Jose. We have since moved to Oregon. The reasons included the extremely unstable politics of California, the extremely high costs of living and doing business there, the incredible pollution that formed in only the 8 years we lived on the mountain where it once was always clear, and the coming bankruptcy of the State of California which I forsaw a couple years ahead of the event. These pages are of memories now until my next garden gets going and then I'll post pictures and a story about it. Oregon's climate is wet 'n wonderful!
This is me the first summer on top of the mountain. The soil was lousy. Thin, rocky, a complete lack of nutrients. I took out enough rocks and boulders to cover the average living room floor about 2 feet deep. The hat is courtesy of Seņor Frog's in Mazatlan, Mexico. You have to lean your head back and they take a boda bag of wine and squirt it into your mouth until you drown or come close to it. Considering it was a life threatening experience the hat now carries great meaning to me.
This is a view to the front of the house. I can never remember which year for these pictures. But I always plant things densely for the "mass effect".
Here is a picture of the garden looking out over the adjacent 45 acres that the cattle graze in late spring to lower the threat of a brush fire. You can't see them but there are tomatos near the fence. Well, if this is an introduction page, so far I've blown it....but click on the links above, it gets better.
