America-Bashing Danny Glover Wants to Spare bin Laden
Back to the Politically Correct Detractors Page
Bob's Note: Here is a fine example of a "Hollywood Moron". Match his statements against each other:
1. "one of the main purveyors of violence in this world is this country",
2. "I say the death penalty is inhumane",
3. "Stand Against Bush",
4. "We must stand vigilant against Bush in these times and work with the abolitionists".
According to "Lethal Weapon" Danny, we should be more worried about our president than terrorists. It seems to me that we should be more afraid of this moron's ability to proselitize Utopian ideas to soft headed people like himself. Utopia is a perfect place. The problem is the enemies of civilization don't follow Utopian rules. And Danny Glover hasn't figured that out.NewsMax.com

Actor Danny Glover, who has starred in some of Hollywood's most violent movies, blames the U.S. for spreading violence and terrorism, and he says we should spare mass-murdering terrorist Osama bin Laden.
"I've been an advocate for peace my whole life. But one of the main purveyors of violence in this world is this country," he said Thursday night in a one-sided anti-death-penalty "forum" at Princeton University.
He dubbed the death penalty "homicide as the official tool of the state" and said America should let bin Laden live, the Trentonian newspaper reported today.
"Yes! Yes! When I say the death penalty is inhumane, I mean whether that person is in a bird cage or it's bin Laden," Glover said.
He blasted the U.S. government for detaining illegal aliens in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks and derided Attorney General John Ashcroft for seeking to listen to conversations between terrorist suspects and their lawyers.
'Stand Against Bush'
"It gets even worse," Glover said. "This week President Bush implemented a military tribunal ... which will make it easier for us to execute. This clearly is a slippery slope. We must stand vigilant against Bush in these times and work with the abolitionists," he said, even as the president enjoys 88 percent approval ratings in the latest polls.
"One of the main purveyors of violence in this world has been this country, whether it's been against Nicaragua, Vietnam or wherever."
Glover, a self-styled human rights activist, was asked about his hypocrisy in playing a gun-toting cop who tramples suspects' rights in the bloody "Lethal Weapon" movies. He replied that he compromised with the studios so he could appear in such highbrow fare as "Beloved," an R-rated dud that few people have sat through.

Official Slams Danny Glover's Hypocrisy
NewsMax.com wasn't the only one to note the hypocrisy of "Lethal Weapon" star Danny Glover in blaming America for spreading violence and terrorism. A New Jersey official is also putting the holier-than-thou actor in his place.
"Mr. Glover has made millions as a purveyor of violence in the movies," Mercer County Executive Robert Prunetti told the Trentonian newspaper. "Where was his concern for violence when he was cashing his huge Hollywood paychecks?
"His criticism of our nation in world affairs is hypocritical and factually wrong," Prunetti said.
The Associated Press today reported that, in addition to his previously reported rants against the death penalty in a one-sided "forum" at Princeton University, Glover called America a racist nation and said minorities were penned up in jail so the United States had a pool of cheap labor.
Apparently the addled Glover doesn't realize that whatever little work criminals do in prison fails to pay for their taxpayer-supplied room and board. Cable TV, exercise equipment, law libraries, and three hots and cot do not come cheaply.
