The Allman Brothers Band

Back to the Music: A LifeLong Source of Joy Page

Southern Soul Rock. The first couple albums had Gregg Allman playing on them along with his brother Duane. Sadly, Gregg died early in the band's career but his brother Duane carried the band on to greater heights. He also married Cher and had daughter Chastity with her some years ago. These are all stereo lps. These records are in very good condition without skips or much surface noise. I've cut out lots of articles that are inside the sleeves of these albums that are very interesting as well. These are for sale only as a group: $ 70.00 plus shipping.

The albums I have for sale are:

Duane & Greg Allman, Bold Records, 33-301. This is a valuable promotional copy I aquired during the time that I broadcasted on a college music station. Notice they misspelled Gregg's first name on this copy. Here is a link for information on this album. It is excellent. http://www.allmanbrothersband.com/music/discs/duaneandgregg.html

Gregg & Duane Allman, Springboard International Records, SPB-4046. This album is another enjoyable listen. Most of the songs were written by "Gregory Allman" for Metric Music along with a few by other composers, notably Goffin/King, remember Carole King? This stuff goes way back. Good condition, no skips or scratches.

Allman Joys: Early Allman, featuring Duane and Gregg Allman. Dial Records, 1973, DL 6005.

This is for you historians out there. There are a couple good tracks on this album but a lot of it is souped up garage music. Here is a good link describing it. Funny, he used the term "garagy" similarly to what I did. http://www.borderlinebooks.com/us6070s/a2m.html

Idlewild South, Capricorn Records, 1973, CPN 0197 Idlewild South is a mellow and excellent effort by this group. I checked the internet for links on this album and frankly came up blank. Just some background information on Capricorn's financial woes. You'll notice that the cover on the Duane & Greg Allman album above is just copied off the left lower corner of this album? Odd but after all, it is a promo copy. This is one of my favorite albums by this group.

Brothers and Sisters, Capricorn Records, 1973, CPN 0111

This is the album you wanted to play when you wanted a young teenage babe to get up and dance her way out of a peasant dress. Lots of great music here. The album features a picture on the inside of the whole band, all the members, their families, kids and dogs on an autumn day. A fine album. Here's a link on this with information: http://www.warr.org/allmans.html

At Fillmore East, Capricorn Records, 1971, SD2-802 Get drunk and boogy to this one. Lots of kick ass, soul crunchin' live music on this one. One of the great albums of the early 70's. Another aspect of this band which is not often noted is that they had two drummers going on stage at once, not just the usual one. The drummers were perfectly in sync with their moves on the drums, cymbals, and the like. Their excellent performance gives this album real punch. This is a double album in excellent condition.
